"This existance of ours is as transcient as Autumn clouds...
To watch the birth and death of beings; is like the movements of a dance...
A lifetime is like a flash of lightening in the sky...
Rushing by, like a torrent down a steep mountain"

Check list and suggestions on what to bring with you

Check List and what to bring

Please wear light and comfortable clothing, loose and  not see through. (people are here for healing not distraction) white is asked for on casa healing days, otherwise any colour is fine. Feel free to wear whatever you feel comfortable with on casa days, but bear in mind casual is probably best. Light cottons ect. are best for daytime as the average temperature is between 28 and 34 degrees centigrade.

Evenings and early mornings  a light jacket, pullover or shawl , will be needed. In rainy season a light rain jacket and shoes and umbrella will also be required. The rain is interspersed with brilliant sunshine and blue skies and can get hot so please bring sandals and clothes for sun too!

Comfortable walking shoes and a swimming costume are also good to bring. Towels are provided by the Pousada but to go to the waterfall or pool best bring one from home or a sarong.
Please bring your vitamins and medication. ( Do NOT stop taking your medication until your medical practitioner tells you to) Small items like batteries, shampoo, soap, toothpaste and brush, ect can be bought in the general store and there are supermarkets over the main highway where other items can be bought. There is also a lovely shop selling products from the Amazon , wonderful natural creams shampoos and scented oils ect.

Other items to bring would be sun cream, torch, mosquito plug in machine ( these can be bought in the airport or pharmacies, do not forget the international adaptors to use with any electronical items!) Mosquito repellent ( there are not so many mosquitos here but one in your room is more than enough when you are trying to sleep!)
Camera, (photos allowed in some, but not all areas of the casa)  music ipod, reading material (there are a few libraries in several pousadas where you can lend and leave books)

Notebook and pen. Try not to bring expensive electronical items as the current here can be inconstant and therefore these items can blow. E.G. A hairdryer may be ok if it blows as not expensive but a computer laptop would be! Having said that, many do bring their laptops.
There are several internet cafes in the village and is around 1 to 2 pounds per hour to use . Approx 1and half Dollars. It is best to keep your computer time to a minimum as much as possible, as it is not the best thing for the healing work here.
Far better to go within one's own heart and self rather than too much mental stimulation and distractions from your world at home or work.

An Alarm clock or mobile phone for those early mornings. ( There are cocks crowing in the village but best not to rely on them to wake you up, nor others in the group.)

Some cell/mobile  phones do pick up Brazilian networks and have arrangements with your country's network, some don't work,or only work for texts or receiving calls but not to make. Some work in one area of the village and not others. However, Just around the corner from the guest house there is Fruttis Juice bar, where you may phone anywhere in the world for a reasonable price.
They have small cabins near the back garden where you may call privately and pay at the counter as the cost and timings are all registered on computer. It is a good idea to bring reading material for rest days , also there are a few places that have 2nd hand book libraries ( guest house ) so you can borrow and also leave your books for others. There's a bookstore in town and at the casa selling books pertaining to the Spiritist work at the Casa and Brazil.

Pocket Money:
Please bring pocket money for herbs ( people usually are prescribed 1 to 2 sets of Passiflora herbs that are an intrinsic part of healing at the casa, these would last Approx. 2 to 4 months and cost Approx. £25 Pounds UK/40 Dollars US each set.

Crystal beds may be prescribed by the Entity working through John of God and also you may like to decide to take some of your own choosing . ( which is fine they are very beneficial to the healing process and highly enjoyable to most people! They cost  40 reas per 40 minute session ( which is Approx .£15 Pounds UK/$19 US

The cost of fresh Juices in the cafes are quite reasonable and are very very good as well as smoothies and teas and coffees. Coffee is approx 1.50 UK/$2  Fully Fresh juices and smoothies Approx. £2 to £3 /$3-$5. Bottled mineral water that has been blessed by the healing entities can be bought at the Casa for same price as in the rest of the village shops and cafes.

If you are the type of person whom likes to shop for souveniers you will enjoy looking around the village shops as well as the Casa shop there are many beautiful crystals to be bought here as well as jewelry. So bring some extra cash for these if you wish.

You may also like to take part in the day out (optional and depending on your healing process) This would be at a small extra charge of Approx. £40-£50/$60-$75

Please appreciate exchange rates, as well as prices, fluctuate a lot these days! Yet on average i would suggest £250-300 UK or $375-500  Per 2 week trip. Maybe a little more if you wish to include souveniers.  It may be a good idea to bring some cash in your own currency so if you need to change some extra fine, if not simply take it back home with you.
There are only one  or two machines in the village that takes credit cards (including one at the casa)  But they cannot be relied on to always work! There is an ATM in a nearby town for emergencies. This would cost approx. £30 UK/$50 US in a taxi and takes half an hour.  Do NOT bring travelers checks as they are incredibly difficult to change here in Brazil. If not impossible! try to bring a mixed amount of notes small and larger. There are a couple of places in the village where you can change money but the rate may not always be the best.

There are no requirements for vaccinations to enter Brazil at this time .... unless you have been to an infected area/country with yellow fever then you will need that vaccination certificate. Otherwise we leave that choice up to you. we cannot take that responsibility , although i never have vaccinations and most people don't. Brazil is mainly a clean country and here at the village staff do their best to keep things clean, if simple, as is a rural area and not  a rich country.

Please do not forget your passport needs to have at least a 6 month validity left on it. Visas for European nationals will be given automatically at the border as a stamp in your passport. American nationals need to apply for their visa 2 to 3 weeks before the date of departure. Please check with your travel agent in your city. Please bring your copy of travel insurance or their number we can contact in emergency if needed this needs to cover hospitalization, repatriation ect.

Please also bring with you, the forms provided at the top right hand page of this website as indemnity.Better still send them via e.mail first. If you have not already sent it ahead via e. mail This needs to be given in on the day of arrival, signed and witnessed. Last but not least: bring an open mind and heart , with the readiness to rel;ease old ways of being that are not serving your well being and health!
Be ready for the new, as this truly is a life transforming and once in a lifetime experience.
